Waerenskjold takes maiden victory in stage 11 of the Tour de France

Uno-X Mobility rider Soren Waerenskjold claimed his first stage victory in the Tour de France after winning the 11th stage from Vichy to Nevers  which was recorded as the fastest stage in the history of the race outside the time trial.

Waerenskjold completed the 161.3-kilometer flat stage in a time of 3 hours 10 minutes 6 seconds, or an average speed of 50.9 kilometers per hour.

"This victory means a lot to me. It's the biggest victory of my career so far," Waerenskjold said after the race.
The victory felt even more special because Waerenskjold had crashed the day before on the stage leading to Le Lioran, finishing last. In fact, on the 11th stage, he even sought treatment from the race doctor for an injury to his right hand.

Despite not yet fully recovered, Waerenskjold was able to exploit a gap in the final kilometer. He launched a sprint from about 350 meters before the finish, passing Cees Bol, who had led for a while, then maintained his pace to the finish line to outpace Kooij and Philipsen.
