Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, manager of the Brazilian national team, revealed new details about the "Seleção's" exit from the 2026 World Cup during the match against Norway.
The Brazilian national team was eliminated from the World Cup in the round of 16 after losing to Norway 2-1, in a surprise that ended their journey in the tournament early.
Ancelotti, in comments reported by ESPN, said that the Brazilian team was in control of the match until the water break in the second half, adding: "I think we lost the World Cup during the water break against Norway."
The Italian coach explained that the Norwegian team relied on possession and patience in building attacks, noting that the team maintained the same style it displayed during its match against England.
Ancelotti added that Norway succeeded in controlling the pace of the game and could have won, while admitting that he may have misjudged the course of the match.
He said: "Perhaps my mistake was that I thought the team had lost control of the game, when in fact that was not the case."
The Brazilian coach indicated that he had made some changes to the lineup, before things became complicated after the goal scored by Norwegian star Erling Haaland, which decided the result of the match and eliminated Brazil from the tournament.
