90 kg of hashish Details of the first major operation in Iraqi waters

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs had dismantled an international drug smuggling network "for the first time in the depths of Iraqi territorial waters."

The ministry explained in an official statement that the operation resulted in the dismantling of a network consisting of 3 defendants, including a foreign national, and the seizure of 90 kg of hashish, as well as the seizure of two boats used in the smuggling operation.

The statement added that the detachments set off from the Umm Qasr naval base on a mission that took 16 hours round trip to reach the designated target, after careful monitoring and surveillance operations that lasted for several days in the Iraqi territorial waters adjacent to one of the neighboring countries.
