Azimut, a subsidiary of the Russian Rostec corporation, announced the development of a biometric fingerprint scanner that can be used in institutions, airports, and many other fields.
The company indicated that its new device, the "Azimuth A4," was developed to comply with the latest international standards and supports the "4+2" scanning system, which allows scanning four fingers of one hand or both thumbs simultaneously. The scanner also provides integrated capabilities for registering users, verifying their identities, and identifying them, within an integrated automated fingerprint system that the company also developed.
The device's performance efficiency reaches 300,000 comparisons per second, a speed that is hundreds of times faster than the performance of previous generations of similar devices, according to the developing company.
The device is accessible via a web interface, allowing employees to perform real-time identity verification, even from mobile devices. According to the manufacturer, the device can process databases containing hundreds of millions of records and guarantees near-100% matching accuracy.
The developers explained that the new scanner is suitable for use in several vital areas, including institutions, border control points, immigration departments, issuing biometric passports, as well as law enforcement agencies' work in identifying identities.
This device joins a range of biometric scanning devices developed by the company, such as the Azimut AR palm scanner, as well as the Azimut A1 and Azimut A2 devices, which are designed to work with one or two fingerprints.
