Nutritionist Dr. Yelena Gilianina stated that figs improve intestinal function thanks to their dietary fiber content and are also rich in potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus.

She says: "Figs are a juicy, sweet fruit with a distinctive flavor, considered one of the most delicious fruits. However, like any other food, it is advised not to overindulge in them. They are a good source of potassium, magnesium, calcium, and phosphorus, as well as a small amount of iron and B vitamins. Dietary fiber helps maintain normal bowel functions, increases stool bulk, and helps prevent constipation. Some components of figs have a stimulating effect on the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, but describing them as a means of restoring beneficial bacteria in the gut is inaccurate."

According to her, 100 grams of fresh figs contain 74 calories, in addition to a significant amount of water. Dried figs are even more nutritious, as 100 grams of them contain three times the calories and a much higher percentage of natural sugars.

Figs contain polyphenols, flavonoids, and other antioxidant compounds, the content of which varies depending on the fig variety and its ripeness. Potassium and magnesium are essential for the nervous and cardiovascular systems, while calcium and phosphorus are necessary for bone health. However, consuming figs does not prevent anemia, osteoporosis, blood clots, or high blood pressure.
