He admitted to having sex with a suspected "Chinese spy" while under the influence of drugs FBI documents reveal a surprise about a former deputy

Declassified US documents revealed on Monday "shocking" details confirming that former Congressman Eric Swalwell admitted to having a drugged sex relationship with a suspected "Chinese spy" named Fang Fang.

Documents released by the White House Government Transparency Task Force revealed that the FBI accidentally learned of Congressman Eric Swalwell's relationship with Fang Fang, whom authorities describe as a "Chinese spy," when the bureau attempted to recruit her as a "double agent."

According to the investigation documents, Swalwell had "physical relationships" with Fang on at least two occasions, during a time when he was a member of Dublin City Council and before his election to Congress in 2012.

On one occasion, Fang arrived at his apartment late at night and knocked insistently on the door before he allowed her in and had sex with her. Swalwell told investigators he barely remembered what happened because he had taken Ambien (a sedative and sleeping pill) before she arrived.

A former Swallowwell campaign aide also reported that Fang was very flirtatious, and that she told him upon arriving unexpectedly at his home that she was not wearing underwear.

The FBI had opened a counterintelligence investigation into Fang because of her ties to several politicians in the San Francisco Bay Area and nationally. She was believed to have been working for China's Ministry of State Security.

According to the documents, Fang helped organize fundraising campaigns for Swalwell in California and Las Vegas, and established relationships with a number of rising politicians and influential figures in the United States.

Swalwell was also repeatedly encouraged to visit China, and an invitation was extended to his father and family to visit the country, but they did not travel there.

Swalwell's ties to Pfang were first revealed in 2020, and the Republican leadership briefly removed him from the Intelligence Committee, but the Democrats later reinstated him.

For her part, his lawyer, Sarah Azari, stated that the documents do not contain any new information, stressing that the previous investigation did not result in any charges being brought or proof of Swalwell committing any wrongdoing, and accused the current administration of using law enforcement information for political purposes.

FBI records also indicate that Fang helped an intern secure an internship at Swalwell's Congressional office, but declined to help him obtain another internship, stating that he did not want to make a recommendation for him.

The documents do not reveal whether the trainee was an agent of Chinese intelligence or obtained classified information.

It is believed that Fang returned to China in mid-2015, as the investigation into possible illegal donations to Swalwell's campaign and her work as an unregistered foreign agent reached an advanced stage.

Fang Fang has since left the country and has been barred from returning to the United States.
Swalwell's links to Fang were first revealed in a 2020 Axios report that suggested she was suspected of being a "Chinese spy".

The California Democrat resigned from the House of Representatives in April , after facing allegations of sexual misconduct and rape, charges he vehemently denied.
