Is meditation really beneficial

Psychologist Dr. Lilia Lazareva points out that meditation helps to curb anger and cultivate empathy. It also helps in understanding emotions and ceasing to suppress them.

She says: “Many have heard of meditation, but few understand what it is, and some do not apply it in their daily lives. Some do not believe in its effectiveness at all. However, almost any action that a person does with full concentration, without unnecessary thoughts, can turn into a form of meditation. This is really beneficial. With regular practice, a person begins to understand their feelings better, to recognize their nature, and to observe them instead of suppressing them. This reduces impulsivity and helps to control anger or depression. Empathy also develops and concentration improves.”

Dr. Galina Chudinskaya, a neurologist, points out that outdoor exercises such as walking, running, and swimming, as well as meditation, help maintain brain health in old age. She adds that walking for 45 minutes daily improves memory and reduces the risk of dementia.
