Martyrs as a result of Israeli bombing of a cafe in Gaza... and 97% of agricultural lands are damaged or inaccessible

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said in a statement: “Six martyrs and 14 injuries arrived at Al-Shifa Medical Complex, as a result of the Israeli occupation targeting citizens on the Gaza beach,” in an initial count.

The ministry described the attack as a "massacre," asserting that "this crime is part of the ongoing targeting of civilians and the perpetration of massacres against our people." A medical source confirmed that the martyrs and wounded were victims of an Israeli drone strike on a café inside the fishermen's port west of the city.

Witnesses reported that an Israeli drone targeted the cafe with at least two missiles while it was crowded with patrons, noting that the surrounding area was home to a large number of displaced people and vacationers at the time of the bombing.

For its part, the Israeli army claimed in a statement that the attack targeted Hamas leaders in the Shati area west of Gaza City, alleging they were planning attacks against its forces. It said the attack was carried out to "eliminate any potential threat to our forces," according to its claim.

In the same context, Israeli Army Radio, citing an unnamed security source, claimed that the attack targeted four Hamas leaders who were meeting at the cafe, alleging that they included "a company commander and three platoon leaders." Hamas has not yet issued a statement regarding these claims.

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement since October 2025 have resulted in the martyrdom of 1,266 Palestinians and the injury of 4,200 others, as of Tuesday.

97% of agricultural land is damaged or inaccessible
In a humanitarian development, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said that 97% of agricultural land in the Gaza Strip is either damaged or inaccessible.

This came in a new geospatial assessment issued by the organization in cooperation with the United Nations Satellite Centre "UNOSAT", according to a report by the FAO.

The report stated that as of June 24, 2026, only 3% of agricultural land in Gaza was accessible and undamaged, while the rest of the land was either damaged or inaccessible.

He explained that 4,091 hectares, equivalent to 27% of the agricultural land in the sector, are accessible, but only 448 hectares of this area remain undamaged, while 3,643 hectares of accessible land have been damaged and need rehabilitation before cultivation can resume.

According to the organization, the area of available and undamaged agricultural land decreased from 601 hectares in October 2025 to 448 hectares, a loss of 153 hectares, or 25.5%. The governorates of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip and Khan Younis in the south recorded the largest rates of decline.

The available and undamaged areas of greenhouses have also decreased, with only 224 hectares remaining, equivalent to 16.6% of their total area, compared to 226 hectares or 17.3% in October 2025.

The city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip recorded the highest levels of inaccessibility, with 97.2% of agricultural lands and 98.4% of greenhouse areas inaccessible, while the most severe material damage was concentrated in the North Gaza and Gaza governorates.

The report noted that restrictions on the import and distribution of essential agricultural production inputs are hindering recovery, amid a severe shortage of seeds, fertilizers, irrigation equipment, fuel and other materials needed for production.

In its report, the FAO called for urgent and sustained action to restore agricultural production in Gaza, by ensuring farmers' safe access to their lands, facilitating the entry of essential agricultural production inputs, and supporting the rehabilitation of damaged lands.

With American support, Israel has continued its war of extermination in Gaza since October 8, 2023, which has resulted in the martyrdom of more than 73,000 Palestinians and the injury of more than 174,000, most of them children and women, in addition to widespread destruction affecting about 90% of the infrastructure in the sector.
