Newcastle United has appointed Matthias Jaissle as its new head coach, replacing Eddie Howe, who stepped down after joining the club in November 2021.
"It's a tremendous honor to be the head coach of Newcastle United. Newcastle is one of the biggest clubs in Europe," Jaissle told Newcastle's.
Widely regarded as one of Europe's leading young coaches, the 38-year-old German arrives at Newcastle after successful spells with Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli.
Jaissle's first managerial role came when he was appointed head coach of Red Bull Salzburg at the age of 33, where he won the domestic double in his first season.
He also led the club to the Champions League knockout stages for the first time, before winning the league for two consecutive seasons.
Jaissle then joined Al-Ahli in 2023, leading the club to the Saudi Arabian
Cup and two consecutive Asian Champions League titles.
