Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, on Thursday, during the Qatari Prime Minister’s visit to Cairo to head his country’s delegation in the seventh session of the joint high committee between the two countries.
During the meeting, the latest regional developments were reviewed, as well as the diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation, contain tensions, and enhance security and stability in the region, and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The Qatari Prime Minister wrote on his X platform account: “I was pleased to meet His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and I conveyed to him the greetings of his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. We share with our brothers in Egypt deep-rooted fraternal relations and a common commitment to preserving our security and stability, and promoting security, peace, and stability in the region. Thank you to Your Excellency for your generous hospitality and warm welcome.”
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also met today in Cairo with Mustafa Madbouly, the Egyptian Prime Minister.
During the meeting, the cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed, as well as ways to support and strengthen them, particularly in the areas of investment, economy, diplomacy, agriculture, food security and health.
Both sides affirmed their keenness to seize promising opportunities to push bilateral relations to broader horizons in all fields, in a way that benefits and promotes growth for both countries and the two brotherly peoples.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar met with Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During the meeting, the cooperation relations between the two countries were reviewed, along with ways to support and develop them, and to enhance consensus and joint action in various fields.
Both sides affirmed their commitment to continuing to develop bilateral relations, given the growing momentum, high-level visits, and ongoing coordination and consultation between the two countries. They also stressed the importance of holding regular meetings of the Joint Higher Committee and building upon the outcomes of its seventh session, translating them into practical steps that enhance cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, both sides appreciated the remarkable development in economic and investment relations, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries increased by 80 percent during 2025, in addition to the growth of Qatari investments in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in a number of fields, including the health and energy sectors.
Badr Abdel-Aty stated in a press conference with his Qatari counterpart that the discussions focused on cooperation in the health sector, with the Minister of Health in attendance. He noted the signing of an agreement regarding a grant from Qatar to establish the Sheikh Tamim Hospital in Sohag Governorate. He emphasized that the agreement falls within the framework of cooperation between the two countries and reflects their shared commitment to strengthening joint efforts in sectors that serve citizens and support development initiatives.
Abdel-Aty added that the talks also addressed the significant development in Egyptian-Qatari relations in the energy sector, encompassing both traditional and renewable energy. He noted that cooperation in this field has witnessed important progress recently, particularly following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in January, which enhances opportunities to expand cooperation and leverage the available resources on both sides.
Both sides noted the launch of a sustainable jet fuel manufacturing project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone with direct Qatari investments, reflecting the growing momentum in economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting also addressed consular and labor cooperation between the two countries, and the importance of continuing coordination in a way that serves common interests and meets the needs of the Qatari labor market.
The meeting discussed the latest regional developments, diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation, contain tensions and enhance security and stability in the region, and the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
They reiterated their condemnation of Israel’s declared rejection of the roadmap aimed at completing the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza, which was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and accepted by Palestinian factions, culminating intensive efforts by mediators, as well as Israel’s rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries and unifying positions regarding current developments, in order to strengthen efforts aimed at consolidating regional security and stability. In this context, they emphasized their support for efforts aimed at settling disputes through diplomatic means, stressing the importance of integrating regional and international efforts to defuse tension and promote dialogue.
Both sides also stressed the need to ensure the security, safety and freedom of maritime navigation, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, in order to preserve the smooth flow of international trade, enhance the security of vital sea lanes and achieve stability in the region.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination in support of the security, stability, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the sisterly Lebanese Republic, the necessity of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, and support for state institutions, foremost among them the Lebanese army.
With regard to Sudan, both sides stressed their support for the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national institutions of Sudan, and rejected any attempts to divide it or create parallel entities. They also expressed deep concern about the deteriorating humanitarian situation.
The meeting also addressed developments in the Horn of Africa, where both sides stressed the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries of the region, and to refrain from any unilateral actions that could threaten regional peace and security or violate the provisions of international law.
The two sides agreed to continue close coordination and consultation between the State of Qatar and the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, and to build on the growing momentum in bilateral relations in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani also met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy.
The Qatari Prime Minister expressed his congratulations to the Secretary-General of the Arab League on the confidence he received from the member states, wishing him success in supporting the League’s progress.
He also affirmed Qatar’s keenness and interest in strengthening joint work with the League of Arab States and consolidating cooperation relations, in order to achieve the aspirations of the Arab peoples for security, stability and development.
