Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho engaged in a humorous discussion with a journalist before his team Real Madrid's match against Real Sociedad on Wednesday evening, a game postponed from the first round of the Spanish League.
Real Madrid began their journey in the new 2026-2027 season, under the leadership of their old-new coach Jose Mourinho, with a hard-fought victory over Espanyol (2-1) in the opening round of the Spanish League.
Real Madrid’s upcoming match against Real Sociedad has a special significance for the Portuguese coach, as it is the first time in 13 years that “The Special One” will be sitting in the Real Madrid coach’s seat inside the “Santiago Bernabeu” stadium, after he first took over the team between 2010 and 2013.
Despite the importance of the match, Mourinho appeared in good spirits during the pre-match press conference, once again demonstrating his sense of humor and ability to engage in lighthearted banter with journalists, while simultaneously emphasizing his desire to shield his team from external noise.
During the conference, a Spanish journalist tried to praise the change in Mourinho's personality, telling him: "People inside Real Madrid say that you have become calmer and more relaxed."
The Portuguese coach responded quickly, pointing at the journalist and smiling: "So you have a source inside the club? It's good to know that."
The skirmish did not stop there, as Mourinho returned to talking about one of the journalists, before directing a sarcastic message to the COPE network reporter, saying: "You have a lot of sources! You say good things, but if you speak badly about me, beware, I will come after you."
As Mourinho was leaving the conference room, the journalist continued talking to him, to which the Portuguese coach jokingly replied: "See you at the barber's," in a moment that reflected the lighthearted atmosphere that prevailed at the conference.
