Vietnam has begun construction of its largest and most advanced domestically built anti-submarine frigate to date in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang, local media Tuoi Tre reported.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of National Defense Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam highlighted the military's determination to study and develop advanced defense equipment independently, according to the report.
This multipurpose anti-submarine frigate, designed and built by Vietnam, marks a significant development in the country's defense and military shipbuilding industries.
The project underscores Vietnam's efforts to realize an autonomous, self-reliant, self-sufficient, dual-purpose, and modern defense industry, the Tuoi Tre report added.
