The Egyptian Football Association received three official letters from FIFA, following the events that took place during the Egypt-Argentina match in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

According to what was revealed by journalist Ahmed Shobeir, the letters included the technical director of the Egyptian national team, Hossam Hassan, the team manager, Ibrahim Hassan, and the player Mostafa Zico, while the data indicates the possibility of a fourth letter arriving related to goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir.

The investigations relate to statements made by the coaching staff and some players after the match, which included objections and criticisms of the refereeing team and accusations of bias in favor of the Argentine team, in addition to statements and chants related to the Palestinian issue after the match.

The Egyptian national team lost to Argentina 3-2 in the round of 16, in a match that sparked widespread controversy due to the refereeing decisions and the subsequent protests.

The Egyptian Football Association is expected to study the letters and observations received from FIFA before preparing a legal response and submitting it to the relevant authorities, amid anticipation of what the investigations may result in in terms of decisions or penalties.
