From a small field to the stage of achievement

Student sports achievements rarely emerge from a single match. Behind every victory lies a long process of discovering talent, forging courage, cultivating discipline, and providing opportunities for children to learn from the competitive arena.
The school field is often the first place this process takes place. There, initially simple skills can develop through regular practice, intensive mentoring, participation in competitions, and the opportunity to face opponents. Therefore, victory in student competitions should not be measured solely by the trophy brought home.

Far more importantly, will this victory open the door to continued development? This spirit was reflected in the journey of the Surabaya City Junior High School boys' and girls' soccer teams at the 2026 East Java-level Indonesian Student Gala  at the Indonesian Army Air Defense Education Center  Field.

Both teams emerged victorious and are now preparing to advance to the next stage, the selection process for East Java at the national level. The men's team successfully defended their title for the second consecutive year, while the women's team impressively won the championship in their first appearance.

The GSI is more than just an ordinary inter-school tournament. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's National Achievement Center designed it as a junior high school-level sports talent competition, progressing from regional to national levels. Therefore, the Surabaya team's achievement is worthy of consideration as evidence of a healthy talent development ecosystem.
