Google held the Google Cloud Doha Summit 2026, during which it reviewed the acceleration of the national digital transformation in the State of Qatar, and announced major new initiatives, including the launch of the Innovation Lab of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the National Skills Development Program in Google Cloud in partnership with the Qatar Digital Academy.

The summit was held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, celebrating three years since the launch of the Google Cloud platform in Doha, and brought together more than two thousand technology leaders, developers and strategic partners to showcase the integration of Gemini Enterprise across various key sectors.
During his speech at the opening of the summit, Ghassan Costa, General Manager of Google Cloud in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Iraq, said that “despite the tremendous acceleration in the field of artificial intelligence - whether in the field of models, individual platforms or infrastructure - what is exciting is that we have begun to see stability in the scope of artificial intelligence applications within companies and government departments, as well as in consumer technologies.”
He added that Qatar is a stunning example of how organizations can use generative artificial intelligence to change the way they interact with content, and how they localize and regionalize it, all at the individual, personal level.
He considered that the biggest obstacle to the adoption of artificial intelligence in the region is the cultural challenge resulting from this transformation, pointing to the importance of thinking about how to overcome this curve and path, starting with teaching employees and customers to use artificial intelligence in a safe and secure way, and reaching the point of helping companies to make a radical change in the way they invest in artificial intelligence today.
Costa showcased the company's flagship AI products, such as Google's ultra-fast and efficient Gemini 3.8 Flash, designed to handle complex everyday tasks and rapid analysis while maintaining low resource consumption. He also highlighted the advanced Gemini Omni multimedia model, capable of simultaneously and seamlessly understanding, generating, and processing images, video, audio, and text.
The summit also reviewed the extent of the integration of artificial intelligence into the work of many governmental and private institutions and bodies in Qatar, most notably the Al Jazeera Media Network. Costa said that the Google Cloud open and integrated AI platform was designed to provide institutions with the foundations they need to expand the scope of smart systems. For this reason, the Al Jazeera Media Network chose Google Cloud services to support its global platforms, digital newsrooms, and media institutes, enabling journalists to formulate, verify, and accelerate the publication and localization of breaking news stories and headlines in real time.
