Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir spoke about renewing his contract and continuing with the team during the current period after agreeing on the financial and contractual details of his continued stay with the club.
Mostafa Shobeir confirmed in his statements that the negotiations were not disrupted due to a disagreement over including a penalty clause to facilitate his professional career abroad, as had been rumored.
Shobeir said in televised remarks: "My presence at Al-Ahly is a blessing from God. I am in my home, and what is between me and Al-Ahly is not contracts. I am one of the sons of the club, and people must understand that it is impossible for me to go against any policy of the club."
He added: "We held a meeting before the camp, and we agreed that there would be no penalty clause. After the camp, one of the officials explained to me the reasons for not including the clause, and I understood the matter because this is the club's system."
He continued: "The club initially agreed, then we disagreed about the duration, and in the end the club changed its decision, and I respected that and renewed my contract without a penalty clause."
He continued: "Al-Ahly has done a great deal for us, and I am currently the starting goalkeeper for Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, and the club has done a great deal for me to reach that point."
Shobeir concluded his speech with a message to the fans: "I thank them for their attendance and support, and I hope that no one interferes between us in anything, and as long as we are united, we will win all the championships."
Al-Ahly had rejected an offer to let their international goalkeeper leave for Italian club Como in the current summer transfer window.
