According to data from the Russian company Megafon, men make up the largest percentage of users of the enhanced security features, at 56% of the total. The virtual assistant's primary audience is Russians over the age of 30.
The 31-45 age group accounts for 42% of active users, while the 46-65 age group represents 37%, and users over 65 years of age make up only about 10%.
Dmitry Kishilov, Head of Business for Additional Products at MegaFon, said: "Scammers are increasingly using new technologies, from synthetic speech to deepfakes, so protection tools must also constantly evolve. We are expanding our capabilities so that the virtual assistant not only blocks spam messages but also helps identify more complex fraud scenarios. We have seen increased interest from our customers in these functions, with their growing willingness to use artificial intelligence to enhance their digital security."
Megafon's press service reported that its virtual assistant blocks more than 25 million unwanted and potentially fraudulent calls every month. The highest number of blocks was recorded last June, when the figure exceeded the monthly average by 23%.
The virtual assistant service "Eve" is most actively used in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, the Samara and Rostov regions, and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The list of the ten most active regions also includes the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Krasnodar Krai, and the Sverdlovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, and Saratov regions.
In addition to blocking unwanted calls, users are increasingly activating features such as speech recognition, deepfake detection, and protection for relatives. The Russian telecommunications company Beeline blocks approximately 20-25 million fraudulent calls monthly, in addition to tens of millions of nuisance calls. Conversely, the number of fraudulent calls has been gradually decreasing in recent months.
Megafon's press service stated that the artificial intelligence analyzes the voice signal in real time and compares the caller's behavior to fraud scenarios on which the model was trained. The system also takes into account hundreds of criteria, including the subscriber's profile, data traffic history, call volume, the percentage of stable contacts, and other indicators.
She added that feedback from users and partners plays an important role in the development of the system, as it contributes to continuously improving models and uncovering new fraud methods and scenarios.
