Al Thumama World Cup Stadium - Qatar
Doha: Nasser Fahad Al-Khater, Chairman of the Executive Committee for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, praised the distinctive image that the opening of the Al Thumama World Cup Stadium witnessed.
Al-Thumama Stadium was inaugurated today, Friday, with the final match of the Qatar Emir Cup, which Al-Sadd crowned at the expense of Al-Rayyan after winning 5-4 on penalties, after the end of the original time with a 1-1 draw.
Al-Khater said in press statements on the sidelines of the Emir Cup final match between Al-Sadd and Al-Rayyan, and the opening of the new stadium, that Qatar is able to organize the competition with a full capacity for all stadiums, even in light of the outbreak of the Corona virus.
Al-Khater added: “The past ten years were important during our journey to the preparations for the World Cup, but we are now in the process of a new stage in our preparations to host the 2021 Arab Cup, which begins a month later.”
He continued, "The preparations are very much in place, today we are at Al Thumama Stadium, which hosted the Amir Cup final, and will also be present in the Arab Cup during the group stage to the semi-finals."
When asked about health preparations in the World Cup and Arab Cup, Al-Khater confirmed that his country has reached a high level of vaccination against the Corona virus, exceeding 85 percent, and we have very few infections, which makes it possible for us to host matches with a full capacity.
Nasser Al-Khater concluded his speech by congratulating the Danish and German teams on the occasion of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar: “We congratulate the German and Danish teams for their qualification to the World Cup, and we congratulate their fans and welcome them to Qatar, and we hope that they will start from now on reservations and equipment to be with us here in 2022.”
