The inferno of Hindu attacks extends to Christians after Muslims What is happening to India's minorities?

The attacks and rhetoric of incitement and hate constantly launched by Hindu extremists against Muslims have not excluded the rest of India's minorities. Especially Christians, who, in the last few days, have faced many violent attacks, coinciding with the Christmas celebrations.

Despite all international covenants and treaties commitment to equality, and the elimination of racial discrimination based on racial, religious or ethnic grounds, India, which is a party to these conventions, has breached them in flagrant defiance. Thus, it became among the countries in the world that violated the rights of minorities and were criminal against them.

In this context, many human rights reports issued during the past years, particularly since Narendra Modi took office in 2014, spoke of massive violations and growing extremism in India towards Muslims in particular.

However, it seems that these attacks, led by extremist Hindus, shook the human rights community in the world, and did not exclude the Christian community as well, which in turn was subjected to a number of attacks and issued several arbitrary laws against it, coinciding with the Christmas celebrations.

India's Christians Attacks and Tight Laws
The Christian minority, which represents about 2% of the total population of India, has been subjected to many harassment in recent years, especially during the periods of Christmas celebrations. It stopped many celebrations, ceremonies and prayers, and destroyed the statues of "Christ" and burned the statues of "Santa Claus."

These attacks have witnessed an alarming escalation since the beginning of this year, as Hindu extremists claim that Christian groups are planning to "forcibly convert Hindus to Christianity" through missionary campaigns that they have been conducting, since the beginning of December, in addition to gifts distributed by Santa Claus to children. , to attract them to Christianity, and the celebrations that take place in churches and in which many sons of Hindus participate, as they put it.

For these reasons, Hindu nationalist groups justified the fierce attacks they carried out against Christians in separate states and territories of India. In Assam, videos later spread on social media documented two men disrupting church festivities on Christmas Eve, and one of them shouted: “We are against the participation of Hindu boys and girls in the Christmas celebration, it hurts our feelings. They are wearing church clothes and everyone is singing Merry Christmas How will our religion survive?” The same was repeated in several other states, such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and others.

While some extremists destroyed churches, destroyed statues of Christ, burned Bibles, closed Christian schools, and attacked Christians and priests, without being held accountable or punished.

According to what was stated by the priest in the ashram Anand, to foreign media, the attacks that took place during the Christmas celebrations, are only part of the campaign of incitement and continuous attacks against the members of the Christian community in India. For Christians there, Sunday has become a day of terror and panic, especially for those who go to church.

Indeed, many human rights reports have shown that crimes against Christians in India have witnessed an alarming increase in recent years, by about 60% between 2016 and 2019. More than 300 attacks on Christians were documented across India during the first nine months of the current year 2021.

In light of the accusations leveled by the Hindu hard-line groups of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Christians seeking to "forced conversion of Hindus to Christianity", the Indian authorities issued an official decision to stop foreign funding and freeze the bank accounts of the charity founded by Mother Teresa in 1950, which It provides shelters for the poor and provides charitable aid to a large number of people.

This danger comes within the framework of legal restrictions on the Christian minority in India, in addition to the attacks they face on a daily basis amid systematic media incitement and international silence, like other minorities, led by the Muslims of India, the most persecuted minority in this country.

Despite the human rights reports warning of a systematic genocide led by Hindus against Muslims who represent about 14% of the population of India, this did not stop the killing and violence machine in the world's most prevalent countries for racist crimes and incitement against Muslims.

The scenes and videos spread on social media are only the tip of the iceberg of a campaign of massive attacks and attacks that have turned the lives of Muslims in India into hell, with media and government complicity.

The last indications of this racist campaign were the call of Hindu religious leaders in the northern state of Uttarakhand to mass murder and the use of weapons against Muslims to exterminate them.

During the recent period, many Muslim homes, farms and mosques in India were subjected to burning and looting, while Hindu extremists attacked many Muslims and managed to escape punishment.
