Corporate insurer AGCS has warned that cyber attacks are the biggest threat to businesses around the world.

In its Risk Barometer report published on Tuesday, the company cited criminal hackers as the biggest threat to global businesses.

The company surveyed 2,650 professionals in 89 countries last fall. This included more than 1,200 CEOs at major companies with annual sales of more than $500 million.

Experts from AGCS also took part in the survey, and the company learned that even very good IT security precautions do not protect 100% from hacker attacks.

"Companies are investing a lot of money in further developing IT security, but we still find that attackers can hack and sometimes cause massive damage to businesses," said AGCS Director Jens Crickhan.

The company's survey is consistent with other analyzes on cybercrime.

US Cyber ​​Security Ventures, which is often cited in the IT industry, estimates that global damages from cybercrime amounted to $6 trillion in 2021. By 2025, it could rise to 10.5 trillion.

This amount includes losses from data theft, financial crime, lost productivity, intellectual property theft, and other crimes, as well as the cost of repairing the damage.
