He told Bernama that police are currently awaiting a urine test report from the 54-year-old state assemblyman to complete the investigation.

"The state legislator involved was released on bail last night and we are still waiting for the laboratory report to complete the investigation. Once the investigation is completed, the investigation report will be submitted to the Deputy Attorney General next week."

Penang police yesterday confirmed the arrest of a Perak MP on suspicion of drug abuse. The police arrested the relevant state assemblyman and 35 other people at an entertainment venue at about 9 o'clock last night.

In addition, Mustapa pointed out that in the same arrest operation, two police officers from the Penang State Police Headquarters and the Perak Police Headquarters were also arrested for drug abuse, and the relevant persons have also been released on bail.

He added that the police are investigating the case under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which, upon conviction, carries a fine of not more than RM5,000 or imprisonment of not more than two years, or both.
