FC Barcelona v Eintracht Frankfurt: Quarter Final Leg Two - UEFA Europa League
Barcelona has extended the contract of Uruguayan international defender Ronald Araujo until 2026, the Catalan club announced.
Barcelona set the value of the penalty clause in the Uruguayan international contract at one billion euros, a fictional amount similar to that set for its young players whose contracts were recently extended, such as Ansu Fati and Badri.
Araujo, 23, has been defending the colors of Barca since 2019 after he was tied to a contract with the "Blaugrana" until 2023, when he joined the second team in the summer of 2018 from the Uruguayan "Boston River".
The Catalan club announced the extension of the contract through a video clip posted on its official Twitter account.
The Uruguayan has become one of the mainstays in Barcelona's defense since Xavi assumed the duties of supervising the team last November, succeeding Dutchman Ronald Koeman.
Araujo has made 39 appearances for Barcelona this season in all competitions.
Barcelona resorts to the scissors of the censor because of the cuteness of Cristiano Ronaldo
Real Madrid's new Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo walks onto the stage at Santiago Bernabeu stadium
The player Fermin Lopez scored a special goal and participated in a victory for Barcelona Youth Club, but the goal was subjected to the scissors of the sergeant from the Catalan club because of the spectrum of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lopez scored with a distinctive scissor kick in the match that ended with Barcelona's youth victory 3-2 over Cornella.
After the goal, the player rushed to celebrate with his colleagues, and chose the famous method of celebration for Ronaldo to express his joy at this special goal.
The clip appeared in the live broadcast of the match, but the clip of the celebration was absent from the clip that the Catalan club published on its accounts on social media.
And it seems that the celebration in the manner of Ronaldo, the former star of rival Real Madrid, was not welcomed by Barcelona officials.
