Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bank Indonesia (BI) has launched seven denominations of the 2022 Issue Year Rupiah Banknote (TE 2022 Money) with nominal issued in the form of Rp1,000, Rp2,000, Rp5,000, Rp10,000, Rp20,000 denominations. , Rp. 50,000, and Rp. 100,000.
"Today, August 18, 2022, I officially launch seven denominations of the 2022 Issue Year Rupiah Banknotes as legal tender throughout the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," said Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo in Jakarta, Thursday.
Perry Warjiyo stated that the seven TE 2022 denominations will become legal tender starting August 18, 2022, thus complementing the existing banknotes.
The 2022 TE Money still maintains the main image of national heroes on the front and Indonesian cultural themes such as dance, natural scenery, and flora on the back like the 2016 TE Money.
However, there are three aspects of strengthening innovations in the 2022 TE Money, namely a sharper color design. , more reliable safety elements and better material resistance.
This innovation is intended to make the rupiah currency easier to recognize the characteristics of its authenticity, comfortable and safe to use and more difficult to counterfeit so that it is of higher quality and reliable.
The issuance of the 2022 TE Money, which coincided with the momentum of the 77th Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, became a manifestation of the spirit of nationalism, nationalism and sovereignty to foster optimism for the recovery of the national economy.
“The launch of rupiah currency is a concrete manifestation of our shared commitment to provide quality and reliable rupiah currency. As a symbol of state sovereignty and unifying the nation," said Perry Warjiyo.
Meanwhile, the circulation of the 2022 TE Money is one of the implementations of the mandate of the Currency Law as part of the planning to meet the money needs of the public while still implementing governance according to the law.
The 2022 TE Money Issue does not have the impact of revocation and/or withdrawal of previously issued rupiah notes.
All banknotes and coins that have been previously issued shall remain valid as legal tender throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia as long as they have not been revoked and withdrawn from circulation by Bank Indonesia.
As stipulated in the Currency Law, the revocation and withdrawal of rupiah currency from circulation are placed in the State Gazette of the Republic of Indonesia and announced through the mass media.
The public can also exchange TE 2022 money through banking or mobile cash provided by Bank Indonesia with an order for exchange through mobile cash through the PINTAR application on the https://pintar.bi.go.id page.
The exchange application can be accessed by the public starting August 18, 2022 at 11.00 WIB with a money exchange schedule starting August 19, 2022.

Previously, President Joko Widodo set eight national heroes as the main images on the 2022 TE Money as stated in Presidential Decree No. 13 of 2012 and was signed on July 6.
These national heroes include Dr (HC) Ir Soekarno and Dr (HC) Drs Mohammad Hatta on the Rp 100,000 banknote, Ir H Djuanda Kartawidjaja on Rp 50,000, Dr GSSJ Ratulangi on Rp 20,000 and Frans Kaisiepo on Rp 10,000.
Then Dr. KH Idham Chalid on the Rp 5,000 banknote, Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin on the Rp 2,000 note, and Tjut Meutia on the Rp 1,000 banknote.
