North Korea shuts down the capital due to a respiratory disease SEOUL: North Korean authorities have ordered a five-day lockdown in the capital, Pyongyang, starting today, Wednesday, due to a rise in cases of a respiratory disease. This came according to an official notice of the North Korean government, which the Seoul-based NK News said it had seen. The order comes a day after a report by the same website said that Pyongyang residents appeared to be stockpiling goods after receiving advance warning of an upcoming lockdown.
