"The Pentagon should have limited unfettered access to some of the most sensitive intelligence information when there is no reasonable justification for obtaining it," he added.  Although the disclosure of the documents appears to be the most serious public leak of classified information in years, officials say it has not yet reached the scale and scope of the 700,000 documents, videos and diplomatic cables published by WikiLeaks on the Internet in 2013.  Some national security experts and US officials said that they currently suspect that the leaker was an American, given the wide range of topics covered in the documents, but they do not rule out the presence of pro-Russian elements.
