On Wednesday, workers at the Fairmont Miramar hotel in Santa Monica joined thousands of hotel workers in the area who have gone on strike this summer to demand better pay.
The union (United Hair Local 11), which represents thousands of workers in the sector, said: “We have learned that Inter Miami and star Lionel Messi are coming to Los Angeles this week, to play a match against Los Angeles on Sunday.”
She added, "We ask Lionel Messi and his companions to show solidarity with us, and to stay away from Fairmont Miramar."
Inter Miami did not respond to a request for comment.
A spokesman for the union said it had not received any response from the team.
