The governments of Saudi Arabia and the United States announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries that defines the frameworks for cooperation between the two countries to develop a protocol that contributes to establishing green transcontinental transit corridors.
This project aims to facilitate the transmission of renewable electricity and clean hydrogen via cables and pipelines, as well as the construction of railway lines.
The project also aims to enhance energy security, support efforts to develop clean energy, in addition to developing the digital economy through connectivity and digital data transmission through fiber optic cables, enhancing trade exchange and increasing the passage of goods through linking railways and ports.
The Kingdom welcomed the role played by the United States to support and facilitate negotiations to establish and implement this protocol to include countries concerned with green transit corridors.

Retired US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that the West is determined to reduce the extent of Russia's victories in Ukraine.
Ritter explained in an interview with the Russian “Sputnik” agency: “A new reality has emerged in the West, where everyone has realized that they cannot achieve their goals and objectives in Ukraine, and now they face a great dilemma, which is how to mitigate the consequences of their imminent defeat, and they will try to do this by trying to reduce the size of Russia's victories.
He added: "If the conflict stops now, you can roughly imagine what Ukraine's borders will be like. During that time, the issue of this country's existence within its current borders will remain suspended in the air."
According to Ritter, NATO underestimated Russia when it was preparing Ukraine to launch a counterattack, saying that the NATO countries considered Russia a weak country, but the good defense, discipline and dedication of the Russian soldiers brought the NATO countries down from the sky, or more precisely, woke them up from their dreams.
"The Russians are very good, and this fact thwarted NATO's maneuver," he concluded.
The Ukrainian counterattack was launched on June 4, on several axes south of Donetsk, Zaporozhye, and Artyomovsk, where the largest focus of the attack was on the Zaporozhye axis.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, during his meeting with Russian war correspondents on June 13, that the Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses during the counterattack and did not succeed in any axis.
