American representatives: Israel’s invasion of Rafah violates the rules for providing American military aid to Tel Aviv

The American website "Axios" reported that a group of Democratic representatives in the US Senate sent a letter to President Joe Biden in which they expressed their fears about the Israeli army invading the city of Rafah.

The representatives explained in their letter, according to Axios, that the Israeli invasion of Rafah would violate the foundations and rules that were enacted regarding the provision of American military aid.

The website pointed out that the Israeli invasion of Rafah will put new pressure on the Biden administration to consider suspending aid to Israel if Tel Aviv takes this step.

In their letter, the representatives cited the memorandum signed by Biden last month, which requires any country receiving American aid to provide “credible and credible written guarantees” that it will abide by international law, indicating that the invasion of Rafah is likely to contradict the memorandum in the absence of a credible Israeli plan to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip. .

The representatives urged Biden to "use every possible tool to ensure that all beneficiaries of American aid are held accountable for their implementation of the obligations called for in the memorandum, stressing that this anticipated invasion will exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip."

The five-month war has plunged the Gaza Strip into a severe humanitarian crisis, especially its north, which is difficult to reach and where hunger has reached “catastrophic levels,” according to the World Food Programme.
