Children's University staff and around one hundred students were freed : Myanmar

Teachers recruited and retained by the Children's University of Sagaing Division. Around 100 of the more than 130 students, including the teacher, have been released, local public defense forces said.

Those detained were separated into groups and released on March 1.

A Child PDF official said that some officials, including the rector, have been detained.

"The rector and nearly 30 professors and teachers according to other majors have not been released yet. The rest of the office clerks and students have been released."

He said that since they are not participating in the non-violent civil disobedience movement (CDM), they will be dealt with according to the law.

Regarding this issue, RFA reached out to Social Affairs Minister U Nyunt Win Aung, who is the spokesperson of the military council, but he did not receive an answer.

Last February, the PDF tried to take over the city, and there was a fierce battle with the military council troops.
