Nine people, including a woman, were injured in a low-intensity IED blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru's Whitefield area on Friday afternoon.

This woman has suffered 40 percent burns and has been admitted to the ICU.

These two blasts occurred at an interval of five seconds. The first blast occurred at 12:55:32 pm and the second blast occurred at 12:55:37 pm.

These blasts took place in an area which is known as the IT hub of Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, known as the IT city, has been in the news since the blast. This explosion did not cause a large-scale fire, but a lot of smoke was generated in the wash basin area. After this, many nails and nuts and bolts were found scattered there.

Police officials have said that the person who carried out the blast first ate Rava Idli at Rameshwaram Cafe and then left the bag under a tree near the wash basin.

This blast is an IED blast, its first official confirmation has been given by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said that the person who carried out the blast has been identified.

A man named Adeboye, who was present in the cafe at the time of the blast, said, "I came here to have lunch. It must have been about one o'clock. Then I heard a loud noise. It sounded like a bomb blast, but I don't know what it was." Was it a bomb blast or something else?"

He said, "People think it might have been a bomb blast, but some people are also calling it a cylinder blast. Some 35-40 people were present inside. A lot of smoke was seen rising after the blast."

Treatment of the injured continues
After these blasts, the injured have been taken to the nearest hospital, where they are being treated.

These injured also include a 45-year-old woman who has suffered forty percent burns.

This woman is being treated at Brookfield Hospital.

Medical Director of Brookfield Hospital, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, while talking to journalists, informed about the condition of the patients admitted there.

He has said, "There are three injured admitted in their hospital and all three are out of danger. There is a 45-year-old woman who has suffered 40 percent burns. She is in the ICU."

This woman has cuts on her left side which will require plastic surgery. Due to the sound of the explosion, his eardrum has also burst.

However, Dr. Pradeep Kumar said that if it had been a more intense explosion, the patients would have suffered more serious injuries.

Karnataka government has started investigation into this matter. Top officials of the state have said that investigation is being done in this matter from all aspects.

This blast is being linked to a cylinder blast.

But Divya Raghavendra, managing director of this restaurant, has told BBC that there has been no explosion in any cylinder.

The concerned team has reached the spot for forensic investigation of this case.

Karnataka DGP Alok Mohan has also visited the spot.

He told news agency PTI that the explosion that took place in the cafe was a bomb blast.

He said, "CCTV footage is being examined. Someone had kept the bag there. They are saying that it was an IED blast, we don't know yet whether it is a terrorist attack or not. I have given the information that I have got." Told you. The police are present there."

Along with this, State Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara has told that investigation is being done in this matter from all aspects.

He said, "Who carried out this blast, what kind of blast it is...it is being investigated from all angles. It is also being investigated from this angle whether it was an IED blast or not."

State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said, "There was a blast in Rameshwaram Cafe at one o'clock. It was a low intensity blast. A youth had come with a small bag which exploded after an hour. About ten people were injured." "Seven-eight teams have been formed to investigate this matter."

What did BJP say?
Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly and BJP leader R Ashok has appealed to the government to take strict action in this matter.

He said, “I urge the government to take serious steps in this matter.”

BJP MP from Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, Tejasvi Surya has demanded to give free hand to the investigating agencies in this case.

He has written on X, “First he tried to create a narrative of cylinder blast. Now they are creating a story of business rivalry. Why can't the Congress government allow the investigating agencies to do their work? What is the compulsion of vote bank? CM Siddaramaiah should be given a free hand for investigation and clear answers should be given to the people of Bengaluru.” (BBC)
