Morocco bans the distribution of the French magazine "Marianne" because of its insult to the Prophet Muhammad

The Moroccan website "le 360" reported that the Moroccan authorities banned the distribution of the French magazine "Marianne" in the Kingdom because of a "caricature" drawn that was deemed offensive to the Prophet Muhammad.

The Moroccan website " le 360 " quoted a government source as saying that the February 29 issue of the magazine was banned from distribution because of "a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad, which includes some titles that aim to distort or even smear the image in order to achieve more sales."

The source explained that this decision came from the premise that Morocco “does not tolerate the lack of reverence and respect due to Islam, as is the case with all heavenly religions.”

The source criticized the French magazine's disregard for a fundamental and sensitive topic for more than 1.5 billion Muslims in the world.

He also pointed out that the timing of publishing the caricature on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan increases the seriousness of this act.

This is the first time that "Marianne" magazine has been banned in Morocco.

This was not the first time that the magazine was subjected to criticism because of its position on Islam.
