The military council enacted the conscription law and forcibly recruited soldiers, causing distress to the people. National Unity Government (NUG) Union Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than said that they are trying to send people to the frontline battlefield where there is no way back after suffering all kinds of people.

This was said by Union Prime Minister Mann Win Khaing Than at the NUG meeting held on March 12.

"The terrorist military council is being attacked by the revolutionary forces from all over the country day by day, and because of its weakening strength, it has come to the point where it has forced recruitment of soldiers. In recruiting soldiers, it is no longer possible to distinguish between those who oppose them and those who support them. They are trying to send the people to the frontline battlefield with no way back by any illegal means they can.

NUG Acting President Duwal Shila also said that the "Conscript Law" that the Military Council is working on is half a military issue. We see that the political issue is half-baked and we have to act politically when counter-revolutionizing this issue. He said at the NUG meeting that there may be military action.

In addition, the NUG and all ethnic alliance organizations are trying to end the military dictatorship by combining armed revolution and public struggle, and it is especially necessary to produce a military result without being restricted to the level of armed resistance.

On February 10, the Military Council approved the Militia Conscription Law, which requires all citizens of legal age to serve in the military.

According to this law, men between the ages of 18 and 35; For women, those between the ages of 18 and 27 must serve in the military.

General Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the Military Council, said in the February 15th issue of the newspapers controlled by the Military Council that after the implementation of this law, 50,000 troops will be called up every year.

General Zaw Min Tun said that according to the 2019 transit census, there are at least 13 million people who are eligible for military service.

According to this law, if a person who is summoned to serve in the military does not do his duty and refuses to do so, he will be sentenced to five years in prison.

Residents of Yangon told RFA that starting last week in all townships in Yangon, the list of people covered by the militia law is being collected by ward.

Military service law, international, domestic, Foreign watchdog human rights research groups and ethnic armed groups are also protesting, and there are some young people who try to leave foreign countries by all means because they are afraid of military service.
