In Gulji, people have been asked not to crowd the streets during Ramadan

This year, although the authorities did not issue special notices or regulations on Ramadan during Ramadan in Uyghur, the measures to ban Ramadan continued in different ways in different provinces. For example, Atushta organized art events and feasts to disrupt those who secretly fasted, while in Gulji, it prevented hidden iftar among relatives and friends by ordering residents not to walk in crowds on the streets. Officers have publicly stated that fasting is not permitted when questioned during these executions.

In our previous investigations, it was known that the Uyghur authorities have kept silent about Ramadan this year, and residents are unable to dare to fast due to the previous restrictions and shocks they have experienced. We called police stations across the Uyghur region to find out how this year's Ramadan security measures are going. A Kashgar Park police officer said the measures could not be disclosed.

A traffic policeman in Urumqi revealed that special officers have been assigned to observe whether taxi drivers are fasting or praying during Ramadan. However, he noted that it is not possible to report on those caught and punished during this process.

According to our preliminary findings, the authorities in various provinces and cities have implemented the Ramadan restriction measures in different ways at their own discretion and/or according to their local conditions. A police officer in Yining City revealed that during this Ramadan, street patrols and house inspections were conducted, during which residents were specially observed to observe fasting. One of the police officers mentioned that the residents were not allowed to fast and therefore almost all the residents did not fast.

In our statement last week, it was revealed that Ramadan was being sabotaged with artistic events and feasts in Ashta. A Yining County police officer who answered our call this week said that during Ramadan, street patrols have been expanded and people's daily activities are being closely monitored. He said the police stopped the residents from standing and walking in the streets. When the residents asked why, the police informed them that friends and relatives should not break the fast together with a clear reminder that fasting is not allowed.

According to China's "Earth Times" newspaper, Chinese authorities invited representatives of Arab countries to visit the Uighurs last week, and promoted that the Uyghurs are living happily. The newspaper also wrote that he was impressed by China's propaganda after seeing people who did not stop smiling during the interviews of the Arab representatives. It appears from Chinese TV news that this time, as in previous years, China has appointed imams and mosques in designated mosques to attract the attention of Arab visitors.

The leader of the Afghan Taliban issues a statement in 7 languages after an audio recording and flogging and stoning of women and men

On Saturday, in a statement, the leader of the Afghan Taliban movement, Hibatullah Akhundzada, called on officials in the movement to put aside their differences and devote themselves to serving their country, as Eid al-Fitr approaches.

It seems that public opposition within the Taliban is unlikely, but some leaders in the movement have shown dissatisfaction with decisions taken by the leadership, especially the ban on female education.

Akhundzada, a reclusive leader who rarely leaves the Taliban stronghold in Kandahar province in the south of the country, and never appears in public, has played a major role in imposing restrictions on women and girls, sparking international outrage and isolating the Taliban on the global stage.

Akhundzada's message was distributed in seven languages, including Uzbek and Turkmen, and is an attempt by the Taliban to court the rich Central Asian countries for investment, and to give legitimacy to the country's rule.
