The solar energy complex, or the so-called “Great Solar Oven,” is considered one of the most prominent facilities built in Uzbekistan, and one of the most important scientific centers for studying energy in the world.

This complex was built in Uzbekistan in the 1980s to monitor the sun and conduct research and development in the areas of using solar energy. The site of the complex was chosen taking into account many factors such as proximity to the capital, clean mountain air, seismic resistance factors of the site, and ideal meteorological conditions. The number of sunny days on site reaches 280 days a year.

This technically complex complex includes a field of heliostat towers, a large solar concentrator, and a technical tower. In the field, there are 62 towers installed like checkerboard squares on a mountain slope opposite a giant concentrator. Each heliostat tower is equipped with 195 flat mirrors to direct sunlight towards the condenser, as the The positions of these towers are automatically achieved through special sensors that monitor the movement of the sun, and the total area of the mirrors of these towers reaches 3,000 square meters.

The most exciting element of the complex is the giant solar concentrator, which consists of 10,700 mirrors with a total area of 1,840 square metres. It is considered the largest solar concentrator in the world, and 10 square meters larger than its French counterpart.

Thanks to the distinctive design of the parts of this complex, the waves of solar rays can be reflected to a specific point in the technical tower located in it, as the temperature at the focus of the rays exceeds 3000 degrees Celsius, which makes it possible to obtain pure alloys and metals free of impurities.
