The Federal Biomedical Agency announced that the drug "MIR 19" has proven effective against the "Omicron" mutant and all other variants of the emerging coronavirus.

A source at the agency indicates that the drug "MIR 19", which was created by the agency's experts, is also effective against new subvariants of the emerging coronavirus, including the FLiRT variant.

“Analysis of available sequences of FLiRT subvariants showed that MIR 19 is also effective against them,” he says.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Consumer Protection Agency announced the discovery of 178 cases of infection in Russia with the FLiRT variant, whose symptoms are similar to those of the “Omicron” mutant - fever, cough, sore throat, weakness, headache, muscle pain, and loss of the sense of smell and taste.

Russian censorship explains how dangerous FLiRT strains of coronavirus

New strains of coronavirus infection called FLiRT have been discovered in Russia. 178 cases of infection with this variant have already been recorded.

According to the Russian supervisory body "Rospotrebnadzor" (Protection of Consumer Rights), there is no need to worry, as the infection is not dangerous. But what should we know about it and what are the ways to prevent it?

FLiRT strains: They are subspecies of the Omicron family. First discovered in the United States, FLiRT strains were subsequently found in other countries, including Britain, Canada, and finally in Russia.

The strains found in Russia are KP.2, KP.1.1, and KS.1. However, according to experts, none of them poses a particular danger.

Apparently, all FLiRT variants are descended from the omicron subspecies JN.1, specifically from its clade JN.1.11.1.

The main difference between FLiRT variants and their predecessors is the occurrence of new mutations in the bipolar proteins, which form the characteristic spikes of the coronavirus. Some experts believe it may make it easier for these strains to target immunity, making them more infectious. However, FLiRT strains are similar to previously discovered JN.1, and there is currently no need to develop a new vaccine, treatment, or test for the disease.

According to the Russian Rospotrenadzor Authority, the symptoms of FLiRT strains are also similar to those of Omicron, as patients suffer from fever, sore throat, body aches, cough, and general weakness. However, most of the time, the severity of the disease depends not on the breed, but on the general health and immunity of the person.

However, prevention should not be neglected. It is important not to get too close to people who suffer from distinct symptoms. It is also important to wash hands well, ventilate the room, sterilize work surfaces, and most importantly, seek specialized medical assistance when the first signs of the Coronavirus appear.
