Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Uzbekistan on Sunday, where, as part of a two-day official visit, he will hold talks with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Putin is visiting the country at the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan, and the visit is scheduled to last for two days, from today until tomorrow.

During the negotiations, the two presidents intend to discuss prospects for developing bilateral relations and exchange views on regional problems.

This is Putin's third trip abroad since the beginning of his new presidential term, and the visit will be an official visit, and this is the highest possible status. The visit includes a tour of two cities. But Putin is expected to visit only Tashkent on his trip. As Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov explained, “This issue can be resolved flexibly - according to what is required from one side or the other side.”

The last time Putin visited Uzbekistan was in September 2022 to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Putin last met Mirziyoyev a little over two weeks ago, when the leader of Uzbekistan came to Moscow to celebrate the anniversary of the victory over Hitler's fascism.

The presidents of the two countries communicate regularly in other ways, including by phone. Their previous phone conversation took place on May 21. In the context of Putin's upcoming visit, the two leaders discussed a number of topics, including deepening trade and economic cooperation.
