Iraqi media reported that a massive fire broke out in an oil refinery on the Erbil-Kuir road in the northern Iraqi province, yesterday evening, Wednesday, which led to the ignition of an asphalt warehouse, while several firefighting and rescue teams worked to try to control the fire.

According to what the same sources reported, the flames resulting from the fire spread to other fuel tanks, amid the absence of accurate information about the occurrence of casualties as a result of the fire, which led to the explosion of several tanks as a result of the flames reaching them.

Local media reported the presence of dozens of refineries and other fuel stores in the area, which will be at risk if the fire is not controlled. While it was noted that "it is possible that the fire occurred when one of the tanks loaded with fuel was unloaded."

The civil defense teams formed a ring around the fire site and were working to extinguish it. They also tried to get closer and closer to the site to increase the effectiveness of the water hoses used in extinguishing the fire.
