“El Nino” or “La Nino” What is more dangerous?

The natural "La Nino" phenomenon in late summer will lead to extreme weather conditions, manifested by hurricanes, storms, and drought.

The World Meteorological Organization reported that the “La Nino” phenomenon will replace the “El Nino” phenomenon, which caused and continues to cause record heat throughout the world.

Reuters quoted the organization as saying: “There is a 60% chance that the La Nino phenomenon will continue between July and September, and a 70% chance that it will develop between August and November.”

During an El Nino phenomenon, water in the tropical Pacific Ocean off the coast of Peru suddenly becomes warmer than usual, and as the water temperature changes, the circulation in the atmosphere changes, including wind, rain and air pressure.

The opposite phenomenon has been called “La Nino,” due to which the Pacific Ocean in the equatorial region cools, bringing with it frequent and destructive hurricanes, abnormal rainfall, and catastrophic drought.

El Nino and La Nino follow each other. Each phenomenon usually lasts several months. The El Nino phenomenon began in 2023.

According to scientists' statistics, changes in weather associated with the natural phenomenon could cause damage to the global economy worth $3 trillion.
