American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk considered that the guilty verdict against former US President Donald Trump was politically motivated and aimed at depriving Americans of voting for their preferred candidate.
Musk wrote on his “X” platform: “There is no real victim in this crime! It is clearly politically motivated and aims to undermine democracy by preventing half of the US population from voting for their preferred candidate.”
He stressed that he never provided financial support to Trump and did not vote for him.
He added: "My views on this issue would be the same as for any candidate."
He stressed that "unlike Trump, defendants in many other cases in which real harm is caused to the victims remain unpunished."
Earlier, a New York jury convicted former President Trump of all 34 charges against him in the case of illegally paying money to buy the silence of a pornographic film actress. The judge set July 11 as the date to pronounce the sentence against Trump.
Trump thus becomes the first former US president to be criminally convicted, although this ruling does not prevent him from continuing his election campaign.
