Russian nutritionist Dr. Alexei Kabanov revealed the harms and benefits of fresh juices, and the diseases that prevent some people from drinking juices because of them.

“Sugar is usually not added to fresh juices, and there is no doubt that they are natural, but there is a downside to them. Fresh juice is very concentrated and acidic, especially orange juice, and drinking it on an empty stomach is bad. Drinking such juices also exacerbates chronic gastrointestinal diseases and can increase stomach acidity,” the expert told RIA Novosti.
According to him, eating whole fruits is the best product for the gut microbiome because the body also gets dietary fiber, not just fructose. Fiber is absorbed slowly by the body, which is more beneficial.
“Fresh juices cause an increase in blood sugar, which increases the risk of diabetes, and for people who already suffer from this disease, high blood sugar is unacceptable,” he said.
According to him, blood sugar levels jump when drinking fresh juice because it contains only fructose and no dietary fiber, so it is absorbed immediately.
