Jakarta - Head of the Division of Infection and Tropical Pediatrics, Department of Child Health Sciences, RSCM, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI) dr. Mulya Rahma Karyanti, SpA(K), MSc said that transmission of the influenza virus in children can occur in various public places such as schools and playgrounds.
"So usually children may get infected with this virus from public playgrounds. At school or at the swimming pool, or playground . When children play, they have runny noses, so they touch all the equipment in public places, so that can be transmitted," Karyanti said when met in Jakarta, Wednesday.
However, he emphasized that exposure to influenza A and B viruses, which are also recorded as high in Indonesia, can be prevented through vaccination.
