Yogyakarta - The Yogyakarta Food and Drug Monitoring Agency is intensifying supervision of takjil or processed food in five districts/cities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta during the month of Ramadan 2025.
Head of BBPOM Yogyakarta Bagus Heri Purnomo in Yogyakarta, Tuesday, said the supervision was to ensure the safety of food consumed by the public during the fasting month.
"Today we conducted surveillance at one of the takjil sales locations in Berbah (Sleman). We have taken 12 samples of takjil food to be tested quickly using a rapid test," said Bagus.
Initial test results showed that the takjil tested at the Berbah Ramadhan Market met the requirements for formalin and Metanil Yellow examination.
"We tested four types of hazardous materials that are often found in food, namely Rhodamine B (red dye), Metanil Yellow (yellow dye), formalin, and borax. From the interim results, no formalin and Metanil Yellow were found," he explained.
In addition to conducting supervision, BBPOM Yogyakarta also educates traders about food safety by distributing brochures containing information about physical, chemical, and biological hazards in food.
