Carlos Alcaraz continued his impressive start at the Monte Carlo Masters by reaching his first ATP Masters 1000 final in 13 months.
The Spaniard beat compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 7-6(2), 6-4 on Saturday to reach his first final at this level since winning Indian Wells last year.
"It's been a long time," Alcaraz said of his 13-month absence from a Masters 1000 final, as reported by ATP on Saturday.
"I just have to be patient and believe that this moment will come again."
Alcaraz now awaits Alex de Minaur or Lorenzo Musetti, as he chases his first Masters 1000 trophy on a course outside Madrid.
Should Alcaraz claim a first Monte Carlo crown and a sixth Masters 1000 title, he would surpass world number one Alexander Zverev.
Just by reaching the final, the Spaniard overtook Jannik Sinner for the No. 1 spot in the ATP Live Race To Turin.
