Eye masks (under eye patches) are often referred to as a solution to reduce swelling in the under-eye area, brighten dull skin and smooth wrinkles under the eyes.
However, a dermatologist, Dr. Jushya Bhatia Sarin, through a post on his personal Instagram, likened eye masks to our favorite drinks which may only treat basic skin problems, not actually eliminate them.
"It's like a cup of coffee for tired eyes, it wakes them up for a while but doesn't change their biology. From this, it can be concluded that under-eye masks may not be efficient in treating the basic biology of your skin, such as natural signs of aging like wrinkles or fine lines; regardless of how they are marketed," Sarin was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
