China issues warning for studying in the US: Do a good job in security risk assessment

China's Ministry of Education issued a study abroad warning, reminding people to conduct security risk assessments when going to study in relevant states in the United States.

The warning stated that the higher education bill recently passed by Ohio, USA, contains negative provisions related to China, which impose restrictions on exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and American universities, and therefore reminds students to enhance their awareness of prevention.

At the same time, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism also issued a risk warning to tourists traveling to the United States on the same day: Due to the deterioration of Sino-US economic and trade relations and the domestic security situation in the United States, Chinese tourists should fully assess the risks of traveling to the United States and travel with caution.

The higher education bill passed by Ohio in mid-March stipulates that state-level institutions are not allowed to accept gifts, donations or contributions from China or any group representing the Chinese government. In addition, any university or college that establishes new academic or research cooperation with a Chinese institution must inform the president of this development.

According to NBC4 and other reports, although the bill allows Chinese students to enroll and Chinese alumni can still donate, Christopher McKnight Nichols, a professor of history at Ohio State University, said the bill may prevent students and faculty from studying at state universities.
