Doctors say padel sport can pose risk to eyes.

Eye specialist who graduated from the University of Indonesia, Dr. Referano Agustiawan SpM(K) said that padel sports can pose a risk to the eyes due to the fast movement of the ball.

"Now many people like padel, the ball is very fast. I have had eye cases because of padel balls, it can be very complex," said Referano during a press conference for the launch of Matapedia in Jakarta, Friday.

Padel is a sport from Mexico that is similar to tennis but is played on a smaller court and enclosed by walls. Padel rackets also have no strings and are made of solid material and the ball is lighter than a tennis ball.

The President Director of JEC @Menteng said that the speed of the padel ball is different from tennis or badminton which can be observed slowly by the eye. The speed of the padel ball can cause trauma to the eyes, in addition, the padel racket can also be at risk of hitting the eyes of fellow players.
