Export of traditional fabrics can be done via e-commerce, making it easier for MSMEs

Micro, small and medium enterprises are now finding it increasingly easier to penetrate export markets thanks to the use of e-commerce .

Through online training entitled "Go Digital, Go Global" initiated by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs together with Shopee, traditional textile entrepreneurs are able to expand their markets abroad without being constrained by language or technical barriers.

One of them is Dewi Novita Sari (41), a fashion entrepreneur from Martapura, South Kalimantan, who is involved in her region's traditional textile, sasirangan cloth. Before going into business, Dewi was an accountant at a hotel. After quitting her job and failing in a culinary business, she found her calling in the fashion sector.

"When I first started selling sasirangan, I participated in exhibitions and bazaars, but the results were not as expected," Dewi said when contacted on Friday. The turning point came when she took part in Shopee's digital business training and started marketing her products online .
