The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a stern warning about serious side effects linked to an active ingredient in a popular hair growth drug that carries the risk of causing confusion and depression, erectile dysfunction and suicidal tendencies.
“These side effects include “erectile dysfunction, anxiety, suicidal ideation, brain fog, depression, fatigue, insomnia, decreased libido, and testicular pain,” the news release said, as quoted by Medical Daily on Monday.
Consumers are encouraged to consult with their healthcare provider and drug manufacturer regarding potential risks before starting treatment with topical finasteride.
