Jakarta - Technology company Microsoft has reportedly postponed or stopped data center construction projects in a number of countries, including Indonesia.
As reported by Engadget on Saturday, the project, which was announced in January 2025, has an investment value of 80 billion US dollars (Rp. 1,324 trillion).
Microsoft's new data centers are planned to be built in several places such as Indonesia, England, Australia, and the United States, specifically in Illinois, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The project delays in some places involved decisions to withdraw from the negotiation process, while others involved delays to previously planned construction schedules.
This data center is projected to be the main backbone in Microsoft's efforts to develop artificial intelligence (AI)-based services.
Despite the adjustments on the ground, Microsoft representatives said the company remains committed to its $80 billion data center budget plan for fiscal 2025.
