Tehran denies that military munitions caused the Bandar Abbas port explosion.

"According to initial reports, the fire that broke out at Shahid Rajaee Port has nothing to do with the defense industry," Rezaei said in a post on the X platform.

In this context, Defense Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei denied, in a statement to state television, allegations reported by foreign media outlets regarding "the presence of military ammunition in the port."

Foreign media outlets, citing Iranian television, claimed that the explosion was caused by an Israeli attack on missile fuel or explosive chemicals at the port.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Customs Authority announced that the fire at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas has been largely extinguished, noting that customs operations at the port have resumed in conjunction with the fire control measures.

Although the fire that broke out after the explosion was brought under control, it has not yet been fully extinguished, despite airstrikes. Shahid Rajaee Port is a strategic port that exports a significant portion of Iran's goods.

On Saturday, a violent explosion occurred in a container at Rajai Shahr Port in Bandar Abbas, which overlooks the strategic Strait of Hormuz, resulting in damage to buildings within the port and a number of casualties.

On Sunday, the Iranian Red Crescent Society announced that the death toll from a bombing at a port in the southern city of Bandar Abbas had risen to 28, after 14 people were killed on Saturday.
